Our ancestral homeland
Iwẹrẹ́, also known as the Warri Kingdom, is the principal homeland of the Ìtsẹ̀kírì people in Nigeria’s western Niger Delta. Its creeks and waterways are part of how our communities live, travel, trade and gather.

Our culture is present in ceremony, dress, dance, food, music, names, greetings and the way we welcome one another.

The voice of a people
Ìtsẹ̀kírì is heard in our greetings, songs, stories, ceremonies, humour and proverbs. Speaking it at home gives the next generation the chance to speak it too.
