When you submit a community story, we collect your name, your connection to Iwẹrẹ́, your story and your permission to review and publish it. You may also choose to provide your email address and location. We record the submission time and a reference identifier.
If you email us, we receive your email address and the information in your message. Please avoid including sensitive information or another person’s private details in a story or message unless you have their permission.
How we use information
- To receive, review and manage community stories.
- To publish stories you have given us permission to publish, including your name, connection and location where relevant. Your submission email address is not intended for publication.
- To contact you about your story when you provide an email address, and to respond to messages and privacy requests.
- To operate the website, investigate technical problems and protect it against misuse.
Submitting a story requires permission to review and publish it. You can ask us to withdraw an unpublished submission or remove a published story by emailing us. Information already copied or shared by others may remain outside our control.
Technical information and third-party services
Our hosting infrastructure may process technical information such as your IP address, browser information, requested pages and access times to deliver and secure the website.
Some pages load fonts from Google Fonts. Live video pages embed YouTube videos. When your browser connects to these services, their providers may receive your IP address and other technical information, and embedded videos may use cookies or similar technologies under the provider’s own policies. The website’s own code does not currently set analytics or advertising cookies. Third-party services may use their own cookies. You can manage cookies through your browser settings.
Links to app stores, social media, maps, calendars and other external websites take you to services with their own privacy policies.

To request removal of an app account and its associated data, visit the account and data deletion page. That page explains the in-app deletion steps, an alternative request form, the stated 30-day timeframe and exceptions for retained records.
Storage and sharing
Story submissions are stored on the website server. Hosting and service providers may process information as needed to operate their services. Published stories are publicly accessible. We may also disclose information when required by applicable law or when necessary to address misuse or protect people’s rights.
We keep submissions and correspondence for as long as needed to review stories, manage published content, respond to enquiries and meet applicable obligations. You can contact us to request deletion of information that is no longer needed.
Your choices and requests
You may request access to, correction of or deletion of your personal information, or withdraw permission to publish your story. Email hello@iamitsekiri.org with enough detail to identify your submission. We may need to verify that the request relates to you. We will consider requests under applicable data protection requirements and explain any limits on what we can do.
Children’s information
If you are under 18, please ask a parent or guardian before sharing a story or personal information. Parents and guardians can contact us about information a child has submitted or to request its removal.
